Nick Clegg
Sheffield Hallam MP Nick Clegg will be coming to Halifax on Friday 2th November. Clegg is the hot favourite to replace Ming Campbell as Leader of the Lib Dems when the Party announces the result of the contest on 17th December. Malcolm James, Chair of Greetland & Stainland Lib Dems, who has organised the visit said, "we're looking forward to hearing Nick speak at our Dinner - there will be 90 Lib Dem members and friends from all over Calderdale listening carefully to what he has to say before casting their vote in the leadership election!"
Earlier in the evening, Nick Clegg will meet with representatives of various organisations responsible for community safety in Halifax. Beth Ward, Halifax Town Centre Manager, said, "Nick Clegg's job as Shadow Home Secretary focuses largely on crime and community safety and so I'm pleased to have the opportunity to bring together representatives from the local Police, Town Centre Ambassadors, the Council and Street Angels to talk to him about the issues we face and the excellent work that has been done here in Halifax".
The two Lib Dem Leadership contenders - Nick Clegg and Chris Huhne - will address Party members at hustings to be held at the Yorkshire & Humber Regional Conference on Saturday 3rd November at Leeds Civic Centre.
