Sunday 1st June 2008

An email from The Tilley Awards - a joint Ambassadors, Street Angels and St John bid for this Home Office award....

Dear All,

Thank you for entering the 2008 Tilley Awards. I am delighted to tell you that your project has been nominated for your Government Office/Welsh Assembly Government area Regional Award and in addition you have reached the national short list - congratulations!

All twelve short listed entries will now be reviewed by our esteemed judging panel and the three finalists will be identified by the end of June. I will email you to advise whether or not you are one of the lucky finalists by the end of June. Finalists will be invited show case your project at the UK Problem Oriented Partnerships Conference (9-11th September) in Leicestershire as part of the prize and the order of winners will be revealed at the Gala Dinner on the first evening of the conference. Even if you are not one of the final three as a Regional Award winner you will automatically receive a pair of tickets to the conference and I will be in touch with you about who should receive these tickets nearer the time. You may also be invited to showcase your project at the conference and the organising committee will write to advise you of this shortly.

The three national finalists will be emailed to our counterparts in the USA, the Goldstein Awards and their administration team will consider whether they wish to invite any UK short listed entrants to present at their conference in late September. Please note they will correspond with you directly if they feel your project will be of interest to their audience. If you want your project to be considered as a Goldstein entry you need to complete their application form and send it in by the deadline of 1st June, more details can be found on their website <http://www.popcenter.org/goldstein> http://www.popcenter.org/goldstein.

In terms of the Regional Awards some areas will be holding local presentations and in other cases your project trophy and individual certificates will be sent to you directly from the Home Office. In both cases please email me up to a maximum of three names and titles/ranks where appropriate for key individuals who worked on the project so that we can produce the certificates. Please also confirm the name of the project and lead organisation as this will appear on the trophy. Once I have your details I can confirm arrangements or provide you with the relevant contact point in your GO/WAG. This information is needed by 6th June and it is estimated that trophies will be ready towards the end of June.

A combination of feedback from the sift and judging panels will be emailed to you once the awards close in September. Brief summaries of the national short listed projects and regional winners will be added to the Crime Reduction web site in the next week to share the learning with practitioners more immediately (http://www.crimereduction.homeoffice.gov.uk/tilley/tilleyawards2008.htm

<http://www.crimereduction.homeoffice.gov.uk/tilley/tilleyawards2008.htm> ) followed by the more in depth case studies being added to the national Effective Practice Database in due course http://www.crimereduction.homeoffice.gov.uk/cgi-bin/epd/index.cgi

Once again congratulations and good luck with future entries to the Tilley Awards!
