ROC Angels empowers local people and communities to work together towards safer places and support for others.
ROC Angels is the umbrella for around one hundred local projects including Street Angels and Festival Angels. Our local teams work within areas such as: night-time economy; music festivals and events; pubs and clubs; town and city centres; local communities.
We have helped change a culture by contributing to a reduction in alcohol related violence and anti-social behaviour in many of the places we work.
Street Angels launched in 2005 as a response to issues within the night-time economy of Halifax town centre. Street Angels work in teams patrolling mostly within the night-time economy offering help and support to those who are or could become vulnerable. ROC Angels offers support, resources and training to help local communities deliver Street Angels / street patrols. Teams work in partnership with agencies such as the Police, Local Authorities, Pubs / Clubs and BID's. Street Angels are often a church and community response.
Festival Angels work at music festivals offering support and help to festival-goers in partnership with festival organisers and staff. Our heart is to 'love the person in front of us' through initiatives such as Prayer Cafe, Safe Hubs, Detached Teams, Lost Property, Mental Health and Well-Being Hubs and Welfare. Over two decades we have set up and supported other initiatives that help contribute to community safety and improve the support and welfare offered within communities. These include (see Projects for more details):
Safe Place Drop-In's - setting up or running late night hubs where people can go for help, support, practical items, a cuppa and chat.
Club Angels / Pub and Club Chaplaincy - working within venues with a mission to 'chat, help, listen, care' for visitors, workers and management.
Town and City Centre Chaplaincy / The5Ps - supporting businesses, staff and visitors through day-time chaplaincy offering a listening ear and support. The5Ps encourages us to Pray and seek the Peace and Prosperity of Places and People.
Community Angels - a befriending project supporting people around loneliness, isolation, illness or difficulties.
Homeless Support - offering a range of local support and sign-posting to those homeless or struggling, including free meals with services attending such as NHS and Housing and running The Light Group sessions.
SafeNightOut.party - resources and tips to help people have safe nights out.
Alcohol and Safety Education Resource - a free resource to equip schools and young people's groups talk about our work, alcohol and safety.
Training and Resources - a wide range of training and resources to equip our teams and others.
#Do1NiceThing - ideas to help everyone love the person in front of them through small nice acts.
Sharing Stories of Hope and Change - through media, social media, giving talks, the Street Angels book, networking, national and regional influence and partnership.
Prayer - encouraging people to partner prayer and action that seeks to make streets like new and communities liveable again (Isaiah 58:12)
