Club Angels work inside clubs and pubs with a mission to 'chat, help, listen and care'. These predominantly young volunteers are based within a venue and support the staff of the venue to ensure people have a safe and fun night out.
Club Angels often work in the busy areas assisting with: glass collection; being a listening ear; supporting those people who have become unwell; supporting staff around the outside and front door areas working to ensure people get on their way home safely.
Club Angels are passionate about creating a positive, safe, enjoyable atmosphere and help reduce alcohol vulnerability within the nightlife the town or city they serve. Working with the Clubs / Pubs, local church, Student Union bars, etc they provide help, support and care for clubbers.
In some areas the local Christian community offers ministry and chaplaincy within Strip Clubs and Lap Dancing Bars. These pioneering teams recognize that working within this industry and environment can be tough so they offer emotional, pastoral, spiritual and physical support to dancers and management. This involves popping in a few times a week armed with sweet treats, building up relationships, and being available to be an impartial listening ear alongside any other way the volunteer team can assist.
Other teams have added to street and club work by offering Chaplaincy to the pub / club staff and management. The Chaplaincy teams offer a friendly and informal ear that will listen to concerns, issues, needs or just be a safe person for chat and banter. Our teams can often offer a different perspective and bring the dynamic of prayer. Many of our coordinators and volunteers are regulars at PubWatch meetings which is place to share news, issues, ideas and offer networking with venues across the town or city.
ROC Angels also connects with Soundcheck. Soundcheck is a service that seeks to care for and support DJs, producers, artists and industry professionals. It is a practical response to the struggles of mental health and wellbeing faced by many who work in the music industry. Based on a model of chaplaincy, we aim to provide a safe space and pastoral care for those who need to talk and be heard, without judgement and in full confidence. Soundcheck chaplains are qualified, trained and experienced. All have extensive experience in the music industry and strong links to the music scene. For more information visit soundcheck.org.uk
Club Angels have featured on a wide range of media including the Financial Times magazine and on BBC One Street Patrol:
