Your people will rebuild the cities that were destroyed long ago. And you will build again on the old foundations. You will be called the one who repairs broken walls.
You will be called the one who makes city streets like new again.
Known as those who make the community livable again.
Isaiah 58:12 - The Bible (New International Reader's Version and The Message)
ROC Angels believe that prayer and action go hand in hand. Prayer and action is a powerful tool that changes people and transforms communities. The prayer and action of 'love the person in front of you' lived out on the streets, at festivals, in nightclubs, lap dancing bars and within communities has seen violent crime and antisocial behaviour reduced and the atmosphere radically changed.
When we started Street Angels our hope was to demonstrate God's Kingdom as a reality for our local town at a time when it was most needed. Within 12 months violent crime, which increased on weekend evenings, reduced by 42%! Gods Kingdom of: peace; restoration; hope; community involvement; time invested into others; loving the person in front of you becoming a reality!
The Lord's Prayer says 'God's Kingdom come, God's will be done, on earth as in heaven.' For those who pray this prayer, you are part of the answer! For every area of life where God's Kingdom isn't; for those people and communities where love is lacking; for those for whom problems and issues seem too great; for those communities blighted by drugs and binge drinking; for those who are lonely, isolated, vulnerable, unsure of where life is headed - prayer and action leads us to demonstrate as reality 'God's Kingdom come, God's will be done!'
Our local projects see first hand violent crime reduced, communities changed for the better, people supported and helped in a wide variety of ways. Our amazing volunteer teams are are seeing streets made like new and community made livable again. Prayer and action works!
Some ideas for prayer:
Pray for each of our local projects. For those who volunteer. For the community they serve. For those agencies they partner with. For the wider response to making streets like new and making community liveable. For God's Kingdom to come and God's will to be done.
Pray for our Emergency Services - the Christian Police Association website has a page of prayer resources around this - click here.
