VIOLENT crime in Cleethorpes at night has fallen dramatically – and now more people than ever can enjoy a safe night out.
That’s the claim of licensing officers, bouncers and club and pub owners, as Humberside Police revealed that the number of arrests made as a result of drunken escapades in North East Lincolnshire have almost halved compared to this time last year. The latest figures available show that between March 2010 and March 2011, 1,902 clubbers were arrested. However, during the same period this year, only 953 arrests were made. The fall has been attributed to the success of the partnership formed by licensing officers, club owners, door supervisors, Street Angels and the police. As reported, teams regularly patrol the streets and door staff are in constant communication through the Pub Watch Radio Scheme – passing on details of troublemakers and those in need of help. Street Angels are on hand to help those who have had one too many – whether by handing out water and flip flops, or getting them medical attention. And Humberside Police Licensing Officer, Ken Stone, goes out once a month to make sure the bars and clubs follow licensing rules and alcohol is not served to under-age drinkers. He said: “The figures show that our partnership work is going to plan and reducing the number of violent incidents in North East Lincolnshire. “We work closely with door supervisors because they find out first hand who needs to be put on Pub Watch. “This operation has had a massive impact. It bans people from entering venues and makes everyone aware of those who are violent. “Our working relationship with the Angels, police and club owners has got better and better and we’re more than ready for the Christmas period, which is always the busiest of the year. “But there is always room for improvement and we will always be keeping our eye on the ball.” Source Comments are closed.
