Paul Blakey MBE and Jean Blakey, the Founders of Street Angels - CNI Network in Halifax along with Adam May, the Director of Development based in Bedford have returned home after walking a total of 134 miles between them from coast to coast in Scotland this week. The walk began early on Sunday morning in Fort William and took 3 days, finishing at Inverness on Tuesday lunchtime. The walk took them along the Caledonian Canal, which includes Loch Ness and Fort Augustius. On the first day, the group walked 28 miles to demonstrate their commitment to the task.
The walk was part of raising the much needed finances to continue the work of Street Angels - Christian Nightlife Initiatives Network. The CNI Network continues to support and resource approximately 100 projects in towns and cities across the UK working in the night time economy, through volunteer street patrols, nightclub chaplaincy and working with the homeless. The walk was tied into a call for a week of national prayer for the charity, and its partner organisations encouraging people to focus on needs within the night-time economy and to celebrate all that is achieved on a weekly basis. Throughout the walk, the trio posted a video blog on their YouTube Channel. Community Groups and churches stood alongside the group using an exciting prayer resource which has been produced. Speaking after the Walk on Thursday afternoon, Adam May, Director of Development said: "The CNI Network has been encouraging people to stand shoulder to shoulder this week as we have prayed for the vital work being done by Christians in the night time economy, as the leadership set off for Scotland for this amazing walk. This week of prayer which ends on Sunday should not be the end, but rather a beginning for change in our nation. I want to echo my plea at the start of the walk to encourage people to stand with us in the work that CNI does. Through this week, Paul, Jean and I have extended our commitment to be a strong, proactive charity seeking and itself to serving vulnerable people. The blisters which we encountered along the walk will be worth it if we can continue to support people and make the difference!"
