Welcome to the latest news from the work and ministry of SA-CNI Network. God is continuing to grow and develop all we do and it is amazing to see him at work in communities across the UK as we partner together to make the difference! With:
CNI Network is a major voice for work carried out in the night-time economy by local projects and volunteers. Together we are stronger and SA-CNI Network is able to speak as one voice for the amazing things achieved week in and week out. Please do consider giving us your support - if every local project and partner committed to £200 a year it would cover all our costs and give us finance to do even more... Thanks, Paul The work of Street Angels - CNI Network was celebrated at a reception at Number 10 Downing Street attended by Prime Minister David Cameron (pictured above with Paul and Jean Blakey, Hazel and Steve Brock). It was great to showcase the amazing work happening in over 100 communities across the UK at the event celebrating the 14 Big Society Award winners for 2012. You can read more about the day here... It was great to see 2 new local projects launch in the last few weeks - Blackpool Street Angels and Belper Street Angels both went out on the streets for the first time. Other towns are also due to launch later this month including Beverley and Whitby with more towns planning a launch later in the year. CNI Network is here to support and resource those towns wishing to start a work within the night-time economy - email paul@cninetwork.org.uk for details... It is also great to welcome Carmarthen, West Wales NightLight to the CNI Network family. This Saturday (14th July) is the annual Yorkshire Duck Race at Bolton Abbey which is raising money for Street Angels - CNI Network, The Leprosy Mission and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. Ducks are £2 and to purchase one to support SA-CNI text DUCK22 £2 to 70070 or visit www.localgiving.com/streetangels - please email paul@cninetwork.org.uk your name and number of ducks purchased and he will send you your duck numbers. First prize is return train tickets to London for 2 adults and 3 children on Grand Central; second prize is a family ticket to any show at Square Chapel, Halifax and third prize is annual membership to the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. CNI has given its commitment to working with the new Police and Crime Commissioners that are to be elected in November. Working as part of Safer Future Communities a paper, looking at how the Voluntary and Community Sector can work alongside the PCC's to help reduce crime and keep communities safe, is to be sent to all those standing for election. More information is available here. Town Pastors in Suffolk will be running a refreshment tent at the Latitude Festival this coming weekend. Please pray for the work at the Festival and for those they will meet... Paul and Jean were at "For Such a Time as This" at Westminster Chapel, an event celebrating forty years of the New Church movement with a commitment to work together as God does new things within the UK. A full audio recording is available here - the prayer which summed up the day is: WE AFFIRM OUR LOVE FOR YOU FATHER AND WE AFFIRM OUR LOVE FOR YOUR CHURCH. THANK YOU FOR YOUR FAITHFULNESS AND LOVE THROUGHT THE LAST 40 YEARS IN THIS NATION. THANK YOU FOR A NEW FLOW OF WORSHIP, MUSIC AND SONG WRITING THAT HAS BROUGHT LIFE TO THE CHURCH. THANK YOU FOR NEW CHURCHES PLANTED AND FRESH EXPRESSIONS OF KINGDOM EMERGING. WE PRAISE YOU FOR EVERY INITIATIVE WHICH HAS SOUGHT TO BLESS PEOPLE AND COMMUNITIES AND FOR MISSION MOVEMENTS THAT HAVE HONOURED CHRIST AND REACHED MANY PEOPLE. WHERE THERE HAVE BEEN DIVISIONS AND BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH THE YEARS WE PRAY YOUR FORGIVENESS AND CLEANSING. NOW WE STAND TOGETHER FOR YOUR KINGDOM PURPOSES FROM DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS, DENOMINATIONS AND NETWORKS RECOGNISING BOTH OUR DUTY AND DELIGHT TO BE TOGETHER. WE COMMIT TO SPEAK WELL OF ONE ANOTHER, TO SUPPORT AND AFFIRM ONE ANOTHER AND TO SHARE THE GOOD NEWS MESSAGE IN WORD AND ACTION. REVIVE YOUR CHURCH. MAY WE SEE THE UK RE-EVANGELISED WITH MANY BROUGHT TO A LIVING FAITH AND MANY COMMUNITIES TRANSFORMED. IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT Well done to Halifax Street Angels who won the Jubilee Charity of the Year in the Halifax Courier Community Spirit awards. The award was presented by BBC Look North's Clare Frisby. Halifax Street Angels have also appointed Fran Toal and Ellis King who will replace Paul Blakey heading up the project. An education resource pack has been developed in partnership with CICS (Christian Initiative in Calderdale Schools) which is part of Scripture Union. The pack was trialled in Rastrick High School and covers alcohol facts, safety advice, vulnerability around people Street Angels have helped, etc. We hope to make the pack available to local projects in the new school year... Street Angels - CNI is part of the Cinnamon Network, a community of 150 CEO's of Christian charities who are passionate about social and community transformation. The Network has received some funding to act as seed funding for those wishing to start projects such as Street Angels - to read more and apply see here. The AGM of Street Angels - CNI Network took place in June and saw the official handover from the Halifax based trustees to the new national board of trustees. The minutes will be published shortly but for now here are the approved accounts for both Halifax Street Angels and CNI Network. We are working with Neighbourhood Watch to put together a database / interactive map of citizen patrol projects that are taking place across the UK - www.ourwatch.org.uk/citizen_patrols . This is to encourage new people to volunteer as well as provide information on numbers of volunteers, number of towns where community patrol projects are taking place, etc. It is hoped that someone from each region will act as the regional coordinator for the database (nominations please) and that this will prove to be an easy way to contact volunteers at a project, regional and national level. To put the database together please can you email the name of your project and postcode to paul@cninetwork.org.uk - many thanks! Paul offered the endorsement of Street Angels - CNI Network to the National Day of Prayer to be held at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 29th September. The day aims to gather 80,000 people at the Stadium for prayer and worship. Paul says of the event, "What a great initiative to gather people from across the nation and around the world to pray and worship. As the eyes of the world are repeatedly on London and the UK for the Jubilee and Olympics, to conclude this amazing year with 80,000 gathering at Wembley will be a prophetic declaration to the world that, as followers of Jesus, we want to see God's Kingdom established in community after community. Plan to be at Wembley on 29th September..." Tickets are £10 each and can be purchased from www.ndopwembley.com . Paul is also working with Rebekah Brettle from Neighbourhood Prayer Network to establish a legacy for the day at Wembley. ![]() The Olympics are nearly here and CNI Network are supporting several initiatives through More Than Gold. There are over 300 Games Pastors now in place ready to serve and help those visiting Olympic cities including many from local projects. For those who already volunteer as Street Angels, Town Pastors, NightLight, etc then you can still be involved as a Games Pastor - you will need a reference from your coordinator CNI is also working with FGBMFI, Share Jesus International and several London churches on an outreach trailer that will be used as a platform for music, drama, testimony, etc. Thanks to Alesia and Joy at Share Jesus International who have worked very hard on pulling this together and Trevor from FGBMFI / CNI who has adapted the trailer.
