A gathering of 25 Christian leaders, including Joel Edwards of Micah Challenge, Andy Stockbridge of Toybox, Rachel Shackleton of Spurgeons and Brendon Fox of Faithworks met on the 17th May to answer a question. How do we create a movement that calls out, connects and equips the next generation of Wilberforce’s, Spurgeon’s and Teresa’s? Andy Burns, founder of Justice Generation said; “Today was all about gathering key leaders together to see if there was the heart to try something new, to try something collaborative that will, as the writer to the Hebrews says, surround young Christians with a great crowd of witness cheering them on, putting the baton in their hand and encouraging them to run their lap of Justice with great perseverance.” The concept of Justice Generation is not about creating a new mission body, at its heart is the desire to call out young people who have a heart for Justice, connect them into the existing broad community of Christ already outworking Justice and to equip them to serve.
Adam Bonner of Community Mission, commented that whilst the day was about testing the water on the idea there was already a; “passion for unity in encouraging young people into local and global Justice.” The next step is to widen the conversation out, to gather more input and wisdom especially from young people so that when we are able to launch Justice Generation it’s dynamic, fresh and empowering.
