The traditional Walk of Witness was held in Maidenhead town centre yesterday. About 300 people took part in the event, walking behind a wooden cross which was carried from Park Street through to St Ives Road and up the High Street. Stops were made along the route for prayers, hymns and readings, with music and a drum beat provided by the Salvation Army. The final stop was made outside High Street Methodist Church, where warm drinks and hot cross buns were served afterwards. Helping to ensure the procession ran smoothly were Maidenhead Street Angels. The walk was organised by Churches Together, whose president, Keith Harrison, said: "I think the majority of people who came along said they enjoyed the event. "We were very fortunate with the sunshine, so although it was still cold it was more cheerful than it might otherwise have been." Comments are closed.
