On November 15th people in England and Wales will be voting to elect a new Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for each region. The PCC will be responsible for the way crime is tackled in their police force area and will be responsible for community safety budgets.
SA-CNI Network has already contributed to various discussions around the role of the PCC in terms of engagement with the voluntary sector. We strongly believe that the voluntary and faith sector, including SA-CNI linked local projects, deliver much around front-line crime and anti social behaviour and that we need to continue to be recognised and supported for the role played. We have written this open letter which we will be emailing to as many of the candidates as we can. As we receive responses we will blog them here. Can we encourage local projects to also contact those standing within your region and share with them the ways you, as a project, are contributing to community safety...
