The Street Angels - CNI Network Trustees, Regional Leadership Team, Paul and Jean wish you a Happy Easter. "Jesus, risen from the dead, said, "Go into the world. Go everywhere and announce the Message of God's good news to one and all." Thank you again to all who volunteer on the streets and in steering groups, those who pray, those who help with training, those who help finance and those who stand with us. Street Angels - CNI Network is very much part of God's good news to one and all as we take part in Kingdom of God work - a Kingdom already here but also in the making! The second early booking rate for the Street Angels - CNI Network National Conference comes to an end at the end of March. If you intend to come please book as soon as you can to help us and the hotel. The weekend looks set to be a fantastic time of networking, learning, celebrating and commissioning us for our work on the streets and in nightclubs. So far we have 15 projects coming along (with others still to book) and it would be great to have input from each and every project across the UK. Our 2001/13 Annual General Meeting is taking place on Tuesday 25th June at the Salvation Army in Hoyland Common, S74 0FG. The night will include a free buffet tea and an opportunity to find out more about the work of SA-CNI. As part of the AGM we are voting on a change to Membership -information can be found on this page. It would be great to welcome you to this evening. The work of Street Angels was raised in Topical Questions in the House of Commons on 20 March 2013: David Rutley (MP for Macclesfield): Can my right honorable friend confirm that the big society awards help highlight the important work of community groups, just as the 2012 award did for the Street Angels initiative, which helps make night life safer in Macclesfield and in hundreds of towns and cities across the country? Nick Hurd (Parliamentary Secretary (Civil Society), Cabinet Office; Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner): I can certainly confirm that the big society awards are there to throw a spotlight on and celebrate outstanding community-led initiatives, such as the Street Angels initiative that has done such good work in Macclesfield and has now spread to more than 70 towns across the UK. I encourage colleagues on both sides of the House to think about nominating community initiatives to the big society awards through the No. 10 website. A Street Angel from Cleethorpes has designed a comic book "Who are the Street Angels?" Steve Beckett is a designer for The Beano and this comic book can be re-designed for your project. See this page for more information. Our friends at Lincoln Street Pastors have developed an app - YourNight - which is a free download on iPhone and Android and will help people to have a safe and fun night out. This is now available to local projects to edit and develop for use in their local area at £30 per year. Contact Paul if you are interested or see this page for more details. Stockton Town Pastors, Yarm Town Pastors and Boro Angels feature in a YouTube video which is available here. We are aiming to update the video page on the SA-CNI web site so please email Paul a link to any unfeatured videos. We are really excited by the potential and growth of Club Angels. Pioneered by Beth Tash in Leeds, Club Angels works inside and alongside nightclubs to create a safer night for all. Run by Christian volunteers who hang out in clubs with t-shirts saying "Chat, Help,Listen and Care - PS we're Christians - ask us more if you want!" the scheme has proved so successful a national chain which manages 59 bars across the UK are wanting to see this replicated UK wide. Third Space Ministries are looking to work in Croydon (see here for details) and Beth is pulling together a "how to set up Club Angels" page for the SA-CNI web site. We have also had interest from other pubs and clubs including several in Dundee. Please pray for this initiative as we seek to replicate it UK wide and especially for the team in Croydon. SA-CNI are here to support over 120 local projects across the UK and resource new ones to start. One of the ways is www.wehelpedu.org.uk which has loads of ways people can donate financially to a local project or the national work including skydive's, on-line giving, jungle treks, by text, etc. Do include this link on your web site, social media and promotional literature. If you make www.everyclick.com/sacni your homepage (and register) you can raise money for SA-CNI as you search. You can also raise money as you shop on-line.
