SKIPTON STREET ANGELS RECEIVE HIGH SHERIFF’S AWARD
Street Angels Skipton have been honoured for their community work by The High Sheriff of North Yorkshire, Peter Scrope DL at a presentation in Skipton. During his visit in March 2013 to Craven, The High Sheriff of North Yorkshire, accompanied by the Chairman of Craven District Council, Councilor Christopher Harbron, presented an award to Eileen Appleby, Chairman of Street Angels Skipton. The award recognises great and valuable services to the community made by Street Angels Skipton and their contribution in enhancing the life of the community. Eileen Appleby said “It was a real surprise and pleasure to hear that the work of Street Angels in Skipton has again been acknowledged and an honour to receive the award on behalf of the Street Angels. Coming up to our fourth birthday next month, this past year has been the best yet for us. Being one of the current Mayor’s chosen charities, receiving a Craven Community Champion Award in 2012 and now receiving this special award from The High Sheriff of North Yorkshire has made it an exceptional and memorable 12 months. It is a great credit to our unpaid volunteers and our supporters for all the hard, yet enjoyable, work they do.” The Street Angels have become a familiar sight in Skipton every Saturday night as they help people keep safe and bring a friendly face onto the streets. The group was formed four years ago and there will be a special celebration 7.30pm on Tuesday 30 April 2013 at St Stephens Church, Skipton. Comments are closed.
