Source A BOLTON women’s organisation has been celebrating its 75th anniversary by raising hundreds of pounds for charities at home and abroad. Soroptimist International of Bolton has supported many charitable groups and campaigns over the years, and during this special year. The current president, Cynthia Schofield, decided to concentrate on raising funds for Bolton Street Angels, who take care of town centre late-night revellers. As a result, over the last 12 months, a coffee club met in members’ homes and this, along with a concert with the Ladybridge Singers, allowed the organisation to raise £1,450 for Street Angels. The group’s regular charities have also benefited. Members have have donated £1,256 to Fortalice, Bolton Hospice, BRASS, Fair Trade, Salford News Talk, NW Air Ambulance and Water Aid. Spokeswoman Jean Mort said: “I would like to encourage any woman to join us for fun, friendship and to make a difference to our world.” l To find out more about Soroptimists in Bolton email [email protected] Comments are closed.
