The angels that descended upon the town centre of Halifax and who have gone on to spread their serenity and sincerity across the UK and Europe will now go down in digital history. ‘Street Angels - the amazing story from binge to better’ written by Halifax Street Angels founder Paul Blakely MBE tells the national story and history of the team’s social crusade. Since 2005, dedicated angels have patrolled Halifax town centre - giving a guiding hand to vulnerable people on a Friday and Saturday night. Statistically, the 50plus Halifax team are phenomenal - in their first year, crime in Halifax was reduced by 42 per cent. As hundreds of angels have spread their wings across the country and seas, towns and cities have seen a reduction in crime. At the request of one of Majorca’s chief of police the Angels, under the ‘Christian Nightlife Initiatives Network’ travelled to the party resort of Magaluf. Author of the ebook and founder of Street Angels Paul Blakely said: “The book has taken about 12 months to write. It’s been an absolute pleasure. It was moving to go back right to the beginning - sifting through old blogs and Courier articles. It was lovely to re-read the difference volunteers are making in the stories of people we have helped and projects we’ve achieved. “Hopefully the stories will inspire other people to get out there and make a difference in their towns and cities.” The ebook costs £5 and can be downloaded from www.sa-cni.org.uk/ebook - all proceeds will go to the work of CNI Network.
