Action is looking for a project coordinator for a new partnership project. It’s called Street Angels and is essentially about volunteers being on the streets to support people who may have had a bit too much to drink and be a bit vulnerable and in need of some support be it someone to call them a taxi home, a pair of flip flops as they’ve lost their shoes etc.The project is being coordinated by Leeds Churches Together and they’re looking to first recruit a team of core volunteers who they will CRB check and give comprehensive training so that they can be the ‘supervisors’ of the small teams of other volunteers on the streets. Action’s project coordinator would be one of these supervisors. The project will be covering the Otley run and initially will focus on Saturdays and Fridays. It will initially run for a couple of night before xmas (not every fri and sat) to see how it works in practice.
The coordinator would be responsible for meeting the organisers of this scheme and recruiting volunteers when required. They need to be able to attend a training session at 7pm on 18th November. They wouldn’t have to work every friday and saturday themselves, but at least 1 shift a fortnight. They would need to advertise the volunteering opportunities for every shift.
