Volunteers are to patrol the streets of a Berkshire town to help people who become vulnerable during nights out.
The Street Angels scheme, a partnership between Windsor Churches Together and Thames Valley Police, launches on Friday at bars and clubs in Windsor. The volunteers have received training on conflict management, first aid and drugs and alcohol awareness. Teams of three, wearing blue reflective jackets, will operate between 22:00 and 03:00 GMT on Fridays and Saturdays. Thames Valley Police is urging anyone who wants to become a volunteer to come forward. Police Community Support Officer David Bullock, who set-up the Windsor initiative, said: "It is a hugely rewarding role where a volunteer can make a real difference to the community in which they live, building trust and confidence as well as making Windsor a safer place."
