Paul and Jean spent the weekend in Uxbridge, Hillingdon. On Saturday night they met first with the steering group of Hillingdon Street Angels and heard how the group had developed over the last 3 years. They then went out on patrol with some of the volunteers. Paul and Jean met with PCSO's who shared how Street Angels are having a positive impact on the town on Friday and Saturday nights and with doorstaff and CCTV who spoke highly of the work of Street Angels. One of the volunteers spoke of how he had met someone earlier that week who credits the change his life in terms of drug and alcohol use to the Street Angels who offered him initial support and sign-posted to other organisations. It was also great to see the interaction with those out for the night in Uxbridge and the lollipops proved particularly popular! On Sunday Paul and Jean were guests of Pastor Tunde at Kinsborough Family Church who were launching Love Your Street London. This initiative aims to see Christians across the Borough taking responsibility for the streets they live on. Paul shared a quote from a Chief Superintendent of Metropolitan Police and then spoke how small things, like a 5p lollipop given out by Street Angels, can make a massive difference in the lives of others. Committing to #Do1NiceThing every day is giving permission to God to inconvenience you for the sake of others. The church then signed up to NeighbourhoodPrayer.net and committed to prayer and action on Uxbridge Road as a church and for the congregation to sign up for their street - www.loveyourstreet.org.uk Comments are closed.
